Loper Volleyball Adds Two|
Nebraska-Kearney head volleyball coach Rick Squiers announced today that names of two high school senior who will play for the Lopers this fall.
They are outside hitter Victoria “Tori” Lee (Omaha Duchesne Academy) and libero Kadie Baumgardner (Auburn, Kans.).
In the fall, UNK added setter Brenna Nelson (Elkhorn H.S.), outside hitter Kinslie TeKolste (Lincoln Southeast H.S.), middle blocker Bailey Sokolowski (Kearney Catholic H.S.), middle blocker/outside hitter Katie Weber (Greeley, Colo.) and middle blocker Annie Wolfe (Omaha Marian H.S.).
The Lopers went 35-3 this past fall and must replace departed seniors Kaleigh Anderson (libero/DS), Ariel Krolikowski (outside hitter), Abbey Schueth (outside hitter) and Jenna Rouzee (setter).
Baumgardner (5-6) helped the Washburn Rural Juniors Blues go 31-3 this past season en route to a second straight Class 6A state title.
She amassed 522 digs, 39 aces and had a service receive grade of 2.40. Subsequently, Baumgardner earned first-team all-city and second-team all-state honors.
Besides volleyball, she is a three-year soccer letterwinner and has earned a letter in powerlifting as well.
“Kadie is an outstanding high-energy defender and rock solid serve receiver who has the ability to make an immediate contribution to our team. We are very excited to have her joining us at UNK,” said Squiers
Lee (5-11) earned honorable mention Class B all-state honors this past season. Also named to the Omaha all-area team, she recorded 179 kills, 87 digs, 39 blocks and 23 service aces.
“Tori is a versatile attacker and a very good all-around volleyball player. Her enthusiasm and competitive drive, combined with her experience playing multiple positions, will serve her well at the college level,” said Squiers.
UNK is currently going through spring workouts.
