Hastings police to get 3 new cars

The Hastings City Council also awarded bids for three new police cars last night. Hastings Police will be getting 2014 all-wheel drive police interceptors. The three interceptors are all sedans, but Police Chief Pete Kortum says they may looking at adding sport utility vehicles to the fleet in the near future. It was a strong start to the new year for the Hastings Economic Development Corporation. They announced Friday that Perkins would open a restaurant in north Hastings. Dave Rippe, the Director of HEDC, says it may be a sign of things to come in terms of development project. One area Rippe would like to see development is at Industrial Park North, where they have ramped up marketing efforts for the vacant 97,500 square ft. industrial speculative building. Last night, City Council approved a two year extension on the Community Development Block Grant, which will extending the funds to market the site through 2015.
