Lopers Win for Second Time this Fall|
The Nebraska-Kearney men's golf team shot a 36-hole total of 583 to win the 2013 Nebraska Intercollegiate Saturday afternoon in Norfolk.
The nine-team field featured eight other Nebraska colleges with the par 72 Norfolk C.C. serving as the host course.
The Lopers had rounds of 289 and 294 to easily out distance second place Hastings (605). Tournament host Midland (624) was a distant third.
Norfolk senior Lance Lawson (68-73) and Firth sophomore Konnor Oltman (69-72) each shot a three under par 141 to be tied at the end of regulation. Lawson won in a playoff to earn medalist honors; he also was first at the UNK Fall Invite in September.
Also for the Lopers, Lincoln sophomore Max Rudder tied for third (148/76-72), Florida sophomore Michael Colgate tied for 10th (154/76-78) and Grand Island junior Alec Anania tied for 14th (157/80-77).
Playing as individuals were Kearney sophomore Tyler Dowling (T-14th/157) and Canadian sophomore Brad Holmes (23rd/159).
UNK, after playing at the UCM Invite earlier this week, finishes a busy seven days with the Drury Inn Central Regional in St. Joseph, Mo., Monday and Tuesday.
