Property owers rights to be strengthened in new bill|
A legislative hearing on a bill to strengthen property owner rights during eminent domain proceedings turns into an anti-Keystone XL rally at the state Capitol. Senator Annette Dubas of Fullerton tells the Judiciary Committee the state's experience with TransCanada prompted her to sponsor the bill. Ben Gotschall, of Bold Nebraska, The group's energy director says a key provision of the bill puts sharper teeth into the law when dealing with eminent domain and the seizure of property -- like with a pipeline project. It's not a pipeline bill, but Gotschall says it makes up for shortages created by previous eminent domain legislation which clearly favored TransCanada, the company behind the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline.
