Alcott Elementary celebrates rise in student proficiency |
Alcott Elementary held a special assembly yesterday afternoon, to celebrate being named a PLC model. 2 years ago ago standardized tests showed only 50% of students were proficient in such skills as reading, and last year that number jumped to 80%. Principal Lawrence Tunks says all the credit goes to the staff and the students. Alcott joins only one other elementary school in Nebraska as a Professional Learning Community Model, and is now 1 of 160 schools in the nation.
