Johanns looking to a new farm bill to be passed|
Senator Johanns expects a few bumps along the road, but anticipates Congress approved a new farm bill before the current one expires. Johanns says the overall philosophy of moving away from direct payments to farmers toward risk management through crop insurance should hold. Another issue has arisen. Some agricultural leaders object to efforts to incorporate a national standard for laying hen cage sizes in the farm bill. The current farm bill expires at the end of September.
