Smith says financial problems probably won't be fixed

Posted: 12/03/12 09:04

Congressman Adrian Smith says the lame-duck session of Congress cannot address the nation's real financial issues. Smith says the best that can be done in the next month is outline broad agreements to be worked out in the new Congress which convenes in January. Smith, a Republican, accuses Democrats of pressing Republicans for specifics while offering none of their own. Congress is considering whether to extend Bush-era tax cuts and to head off deep, automatic budget cuts before an end-of-the-year deadline.
