Loper's Summers Finishes 28th at Regionals|
Nebraska-Kearney freshman Ana Summers finished in a tie for 28th place at the NCAA Central Regional Tuesday in St. Joseph, Mo.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament was held at the par 72 St. Joseph C.C. and hosted by Missouri Western State.
Summers (Bellevue, Colo.) improved each day in the tourney, having rounds of 86, 84 and 82 to be at 252 overall. Today, she birdied holes one (par 4, 317 yards) and 12 (par 4, 422 yards) and had nine pars to card back-to-back 41’s.
Central Oklahoma (951), Augustana (964) and Northeastern State (975) placed first through third in the nine-team field and advance to the NCAA Championships May 15-18 in Florida.
The three individuals to qualify for the NCAA’s are regional medalist Rebecka Surtevall of Arkansas Tech (231), Ashlynn Hall of SW Oklahoma State (238) and Emily Plyler of Harding (Ark.). Plyler beat Kendall Earp of Henderson State (Ark.) in a one-hole playoff as each shot a 239 in regulation.
