UNK's Bongers Named MIAA Track Athlete of the Week

Kansas City, Mo. -- Truman's Rachel McCarroll was named the MIAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week and Nebraska-Kearney's Marissa Bongers was named the MIAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week for week 13.

Bongers broke a school record for a fifth straight meet at the Iowa State Classic on Saturday. She finished third in the seeded 800 meter run (2:08.72) with a time that is second best in Division II this year. This is the third time in the last month she has broken the UNK 800 record. The junior middle distance runner is a native of Brainard, Neb. where she competed at East Butler High School.
